Tornadoes wreak havoc after storms tear through Houston area

 


Just days after the storm caused more chaos in the Houston area, the storm has caused chaos in the metropolitan area, killing at least one person.


The National Weather Service has issued at least six tornado warnings for the Houston area.




The first reports came from Katy, where debris was flying into the air as the storm moved west of Houston.


According to the National Weather Service storm report, a mobile home garage was damaged and several vehicles were overturned.

About an hour later, more damage was reported in Porter Heights and Splendor, north of Houston.

Buildings in Porter Heights were severely damaged. The East Montgomery Fire Department was also affected by the storm, according to the National Weather Service storm report.



At least 15 people were trapped in their homes after the storm but were rescued, Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough said in an update posted on Facebook.



“Our Fire Department 154 has not received any reports of injuries and all calls have gone unanswered,” the fire department posted on Facebook. “Our staff is advising everyone, especially those in danger. You can call 911.”Another report from the National Weather Service showed severe damage near the town of Alvin, south of Houston. Numerous buildings were destroyed and the remains of a power plant were found on State Highway 35. At least one person was killed in the tornado in Zoria County.Just south of Smith's Point, the tornado overturned a car and caused injuries, the National Weather Service reported.This is the second time this week that the Houston area has been hit by a tornado.
